Primary Role:
This work from home, position works closely with the account manager and account team as an extension of our client’s trade compliance organization by following procedures and ensuring their import and export classifications are completed accurately and timely.  Must be able to work remotely with minimal supervision.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for classifying items for either Import or Export using the following:
    • The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States according to General Rules of Interpretation (GRI’s)
    • Binding rulings (Cross)
    • Explanatory Notes
    • Informed Compliance Publications
    • Reasonable Care guides
    • EAR and CCL
  • Work with the client and the client’s suppliers to obtain product data, documents and material information to ensure the proper classification of their items.
  • Responsible for analyzing client product data to assist in the classification of their products.
  • Responsible for following all documented classification processes identified by the client or provide insight with ways for improvement.
  • Must organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to manage workload and meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Must work well individually and as part of a team.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Professional Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years experience with Import and Export classifications, preferably on a global basis.
  • Customs Brokers License preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Import and Export Classifications certifications a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience with U.S. HTS and ECCN Classifications.
  • Working knowledge of EAR, U.S. Customs regulations and Federal Trade Regulations.
  • Other Trade Compliance Industry certifications for both import and export are preferred.
  • Attention to detail skills required.
  • Demonstrate outstanding problem solving skills.
  • Proficient with complete Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc) and PC Skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams of staff from Vigilant, partners, and clients.
  • Strong customer relationship skills.
