Primary Role
This position works closely with the Director, Account Manager and Account team as an extension of our client’s trade compliance organization.  This position is responsible for performing the day-to-day tactical activities as defined by the Client’s procedures and ensuring their Global Export and Import activities are done in a timely and compliant manner, this includes performing ECCN and HTS classifications.  This position requires the individual to be self-motivated, have a high attention to detail with a passionate can-do attitude.  Working from home requires the individual to hold themselves accountable and work efficiently with limited supervision.

Functional Requirements and Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for classifying items with a very high level of accuracy for both Export and Import using the following:
    • EAR and CCL
    • The Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Processing of daily export and import operational transactions, per the client’s policies and procedures.
  • Work with the client and the client’s suppliers to obtain product data, documents and material information to ensure the proper classification or the items.
  • Responsible for analyzing client product data to assist in the classification of their products.
  • Responsible for following all documented processes identified by the client or provide insight with ways for improvement.
  • Must organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to manage workload and meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Must work well individually and as part of a team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Professional Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years experience with Global Import and Export classification.
  • CUSECO or other export and import certifications are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with US ECCN/EU ECN classifications and working with Export Regulations are an absolute must. Experience with Dual-Use is a benefit.
  • Proficient classifying USHTS and Global HS Codes along with an understanding of the Customs regulations
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate outstanding problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with complete Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc) and PC Skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams of staff from Vigilant, partners, and clients.
  • Strong customer relationship skills.
